Jobs

Everyone knows that Britain is more expensive than most other countries.

Getting a job:

First of all your English must be good enough for the job.
In the spring and winter months it might be difficult to find a job, but it is possible. In summer it is easier because more companies need help in the tourist session.
So what jobs can you do and what wages can you expect?
Jobs which are mostly done by students: Working in Restaurants as waiters, in kitchens or cleaning offices. If you are under 21 you can expect £4.60/hr minimum and if you are over 21 £5.52/hr.

The best way to find a job is to go restaurants and ask for open positions or to contact a recruitment agency. You will have to fill in an application form and in the event of an open position they will contact you.

Advice for job interviews:

  • Wear suitable clothes (NO old, dirty jeans or T-shirts).
  • Take all relevant documents with you (Visa, address details, bank account details).
  • Prepare yourself for the interview – think about questions they may ask you.
  • DO NOT arrive late.
